Chocolate covered strawberries ingredients

  • 2 pounds fresh strawberries, with leaves

  • 12 ounces Venchi dark chocolate, chopped

  • (any extra toppings such as crushed nuts or coconut flakes)

Instructions

  1. Wash strawberries and dry them very well. There should be no water on the strawberries. Otherwise, the chocolate won’t stick.

  1. Line a baking sheet or platter with parchment paper. This is where you’ll be placing your already chocolate dipped strawberries.

  1. Melt the chocolate. See the instructions below.

  1. Take one strawberry at a time and dip it into the melted chocolate. Hold the fruit by the leaves and swirl in the chocolate to make sure it’s coated. Let any excess chocolate fall off.

  1. Dip the chocolate covered strawberry into a topping of your choice, like crushed nuts.

  1. Then place on the parchment paper. Wait about 15 minutes for the chocolate to set.

Preparation time

Chocolate covered strawberries tips

  1. Use top-quality strawberries and chocolate

This recipe has only two ingredients, so it helps to splurge a little and get the best you can. Sweet, ripe strawberries from the farmer’s market will be delightful. Chocolate should also be made from good ingredients so it melts smoothly and quickly.

  1. Dry the strawberries well

There shouldn’t be any droplets of water on your strawberries before dipping. Be extra careful.

  1. Use room temperature strawberries

Don’t use strawberries straight from the refrigerator. It will help the chocolate stick better to them.

  1. Temper your chocolate

Tempering chocolate is a little fancier but nothing a home cook should be scared of. Tempered chocolate will harden and set well on the strawberries, giving you a professional look.

What chocolate to use for chocolate covered strawberries?

There’s something so classic about chocolate and strawberries. They’re a perfect match, just like a chocolate and wine pairing.

But can you use just any chocolate? Better quality will enhance the natural flavors of chocolate and help you create a more decadent dessert. Go for semisweet or dark chocolate.
