PEOPLE
Meaningful Indulgence
Everything starts with our ingredients and the people who grow it. We transform this craft into delights that meet our customers' evolving needs, while reinvesting our resources into the social projects and local communities that define our purpose.
HAKUNA MATATA VANILLA PROJECT
In Tanzania, we’ve partnered with the NGO Hakuna Matata to launch a traceable vanilla project that blends environmental care with deep social impact. Cultivated through sustainable agroforestry, this project is a vital engine for community empowerment, providing direct employment and specialized training for women and youth to ensure their economic independence. Uniquely, much of our vanilla is grown alongside schools, hospitals, and orphanages; by involving these institutions in production, we provide them with tangible resources to strengthen their own sustainability and the region’s social fabric.
LEARN MORE ABOUT THE PROJECT
We have launched a project with a local NGO, our partner in Tanzania, Hakuna Matata. This is a special vanilla, characterised by a delicately floral bouquet and an authentic flavour. We ensure full traceability throughout the entire journey, from the grower to our production facility.
The vanilla from the project supported by Hakuna Matata is grown with full respect for the environment. We promote integrated agroforestry systems, intercropping vanilla with plant species that generate benefits for local communities and contribute to climate resilience. Cultivation takes place exclusively under natural shade, with no contribution to deforestation; on the contrary, the project has led to the restoration and greening of land through the planting of shade trees, banana plants and vanilla itself.
The vanilla project was created with a strong social commitment, aimed at providing tangible support to local communities in the central highlands of Tanzania. The project offers direct employment opportunities for vulnerable groups, with a particular focus on women and young people; learning opportunities for future farmers through continuous training for students and young members of the community; and economic empowerment for growers through training, cultivation support and facilitated access to the market for a high-income crop.
A significant portion of the vanilla produced by the project comes from partner institutions operating directly in the area, such as schools, hospitals and orphanages. Through their involvement in cultivation, these organisations strengthen their sustainability and contribute to the development of surrounding communities.
