What is Mocha?

Mocha is a chocolate-flavored coffee drink that is a popular item on café menus. It can also be called a mocha latte, mochaccino or a café mocha. But, whatever the name, the key ingredients are the same.

Is mocha coffee or chocolate? It's both. A mocha drink must contain cocoa or chocolate syrup, sugar, espresso, and milk. It's the perfect sweet pick-me-up that adds a little joy to your mornings or afternoons.

Chocolate and coffee complement each other in a harmonious dance of taste and aroma. The deep, robust notes of coffee intertwine with the velvety sweetness of chocolate, creating a delightful indulgence for the senses.

Mocha Iced Coffee: a summery variant

Mocha coffees aren't just for the cooler months. The summer version, a mocha iced coffee, is also a must-try. It's a refreshing, icy beverage with a hit of chocolate and coffee that's surprisingly easy to create at home.

Mocha Frappe

Along with the affogato coffee, a mocha frappe is an irresistible summer-friendly treat that makes the warmer months sweeter. To make it, you'll need espresso, white sugar, milk, chocolate syrup, whipped cream, and an electric blender.

How to make a mocha frappe? It's a recipe you can make at home without too much trouble: just plan ahead. You can adjust the amount of coffee and chocolate based on your personal preferences. It's also easy to add more flavors to your mocha frappe with caramel or white chocolate syrups.

  1. Make two shots of espresso. Leave them to cool a little.

  1. Freeze the espresso into ice cubes. Two shots of espresso should make roughly 6-8 frozen ice cubes.

  1. Once the espresso is frozen, you're ready for the next step.

  1. Put ½ cup milk, 1 tablespoon chocolate syrup, 1 tablespoon white sugar, and 6 frozen espresso cubes into an electric blender.

  1. Blend until all ingredients are combined and you've achieved your desired level of frothiness.

  1. Pour the frappe mixture into a cup.

  1. Finish off with whipped cream and chocolate shavings.
